Overview
Trends in tire development and manufacturing have shifted to high performance rubbers that not only offer better durability but higher performance and lower fuel consumption. Silica, as a filler material, is now replacing conventionally used carbon black due to its unique set of properties. This webinar will illustrate how High Force Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) can be used to characterize these properties in silica and carbon black filled rubbers by leveraging ElectroForce mechanical test instruments. Example measurements correlating viscoelasticity with the rubber’s fatigue response and methods on quantification of generated heat during application loads will be presented. A live demonstration of some of the presented methods and instruments will be performed and the section will conclude with a question-and-answer session.
About the Speaker
Muhammad Haris is Application Engineer at TA Instruments since 2018 and is based in Waters TA Lab located near Frankfurt. He obtained an interdisciplinary master’s degree in Advanced Materials and Processes from Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 2017 and bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology Lahore in 2014. His expertise lies in mechanical test instruments, particularly in the characterization of medical devices, biomaterials, and dynamic mechanical analysis of engineered materials. He engages with customers on their testing needs related to the application of ElectroForce products and puts forward broad-ranging solutions. Prior to joining TA Instruments, Muhammad has spent 2 years as an intern and project engineer with Procter & Gamble characterizing next generation electric shaver materials.
