In Search of Calorimetric Answers to Events In Self Assemblies
In this TA Webinar, Professor Nand Kishore discusses how to best discover and interpret protein folding, ligand binding, aggregation and molecular partitioning in self assemblies.
Isothermal titration (ITC) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) are powerful tools for thermodynamic characterization of protein folding intermediates, drug-protein interactions, protein-solvent interactions, and prevention of fibrilization of proteins. In combination with other techniques such as light scattering and x-ray crystallography, the examination of the influence of charge, water molecule participation and the complex plaque and fibril formations are revealing many underlying structural features and their functions in diseases where they have been observed.
