The Role of Interfacial Elasticity on the Rheological Behavior of Polymer Blends: João Maia, Ph.D. The Role of Interfacial Elasticity on the Rheological Behavior of Polymer Blends Polymer blends are commonly used to generate materials with a desired combination of performance properties and cost. Most polymer blends are compatibilized to promote stability of the otherwise immiscible…
DetailsProfessor Chris Macosko – Analyzing Molecular Weight Distribution w/ Rheology In this TA Instruments Webinar, Professor Chris Macosko discusses analyzing molecular weight distribution and blend morphology using rheology. Rheology is a powerful tool for analyzing polymer blends. This seminar will begin with the simplest case: molten blends of two different molecular weight homopolymers. We will…
DetailsProf. Mariano Paganelli: Optical Contactless Measurement of Shape- and Dimensional Changes at High Temperature. In this webinar, Prof. Paganelli shows how the innovative technologies adopted by TA Instruments’ new Optical Dilatometry Platform (ODP 868) address the requirements of laboratory scientists and manufacturing managers of traditional and advanced ceramics. Additionally, these technologies prove beneficial for power plants…
DetailsElectrode slurries are paste-like mixtures made up of active materials, conductive additives, and a binder. The conductive additives must be electrically conducted to the current collector. However, binder is necessary for getting the active materials to stick together and adhere to the current collector.
DetailsWall slip is a common problem when testing highly concentrated emulsions or suspensions on a rheometer. It is usually caused by large velocity gradients in a thin region adjacent to the wall. When slip occurs, the measured viscosity can be significantly lower than the actual viscosity of the sample. To overcome this influence, we have introduced a series of roughened surface geometries, such as crosshatched or serrated plates, which significantly improve the contact between the geometry and the sample to reduce slip.
DetailsTA Instruments’ High-Pressure TGA (HP-TGA) enables users to investigate stability and lifetime of polymers under realistic working conditions, assessing not only the effect of temperature on material stability, but also the effects of high pressure and possibly corrosive atmospheres.
